• Purchased for an anthropology class and ended up reading because it was actually very interesting.
• I actually purchased this book for class and I loved the information inside so much that I decided to keep the book for my personal library.

• Lots of references to the work of Elizabeth Barber and connections to fabric. For someone with a textile background it provides even more "click" moments. Easily readable and packed with information it is a must read for anyone interested in the fields of Women's Studies and Anthropology.
• I like that a lot of the information is given as though she were expecting men who don't believe in feminism to be reading it. I like the case studies and the flow of each topic.
• I thought I have already rated it. Emmm.... This book is a little bit old than I expected, but still a good book

  Truly the best of Balzac. Fans of the original bon vivant will recoil in entertainment to the slow financial trainwreck of the (previously) shrewd businessman and military hero Cesar Birotteau. This novel showcases Balzac's familiarity with law and bankruptcy law and shines a light into the dark corners of finance, banking, and speculation during the dawn of the nineteenth century in France. This is another great act in the human comedy.

• I think that a book like this has a little something for everyone. For die hard runners, there are new ways to think about form and technique. For new runners, there are mind-sets and philosophies to really think about what is important when it comes to running.
  
  I really enjoyed Kevin's thoughtful approach to not just running, but to life. Just looking at his chapter subjects shows us how introspective this book is beginner's mind, reasons for running, coaching as play, eating with heartfulness, well-being, breathing, posture, balance, healing, and timing. While some of the book is very technical, there are tips we can all use. Getting in touch with how and why we run, running for pleasure, putting away the music, stopping running because we have to and starting to run because we want to, looking at everything we do as play and the fundamental importance of that, breathing specifically and reflectively and so much more are all covered in the book.
  
  If you love to run or want to love to run, this is a great book for you. If you are raising children and you are not sure how to promote sport and a love of being physical, there is a lot to think of in this book. One of my favorite quotes in the book on page 45
  
  "From the Latin, competere, 'strive in common' in classical Latin means 'to come together, agree, to be qualified, strive together;' from com 'together' to petere 'to strive and seek.' Competition's root meaning and true meaning for growth is to strive together for the attainment of something. To go forth together to understand each other's potential. True competition is striving for excellence together. In this way, competition is an opportunity for enjoying a quest to achieve personal and perhaps team potential. The best effort of another has the potential to bring out the best effort in you. There are no winners and losers. Just an attempt to raise the level of play in a way that everyone benefits from a challenging learning experience." (This quote is in relation to how we are raising children and young athletes and the picture we are painting for them)
  
  Kevin's book may not change the how or why you run, but it is guaranteed to make you think and take a new look at the beauty of being a runner. Thanks Kevin!

• I bought this to do a presentation on Lunar New Year for my daughter's preK class. We are Korean-American, so we were looking for something that wasn't strictly talking about Chinese New Year. This book was perfect. The kids loved listening to it. The diverse friends talked about in the book were great for normalizing culture. And the kids were quiet and still during the reading, so it must have been good! I also liked that it had the Korean hangul writing along with the English. We will read this book for years to come.
• I love any books with Korean and English for my daughter, especially when a book has the Romanized Korean writing so I can attempt to say the Korean words. I think she gets an extra kick out of it, even tho I'm probably butchering the beautiful Korean language. Bright illustrations and a lovely family story that teaches cultural variety.
• I was invited by my child's first-grade teacher to read a book for Lunar New Year to the class and I bought several books to consider. I picked this book because it shows children of different racial and ethnic backgrounds celebrating Lunar New Year/Chinese New Year even while focusing on one child who is half-Korean in particular and all the things he does to celebrate Lunar New Year. The illustrations are great too. The kids loved it!
• Wonderful Lunar New Year Book. We especially appreciate the Korean Writing and reference to Lunar New Year rather than Chinese New Year. Our Daughter is Korean and it's nice to recognize her culture specifically.

• Janet Wong's year 2000 This Next New Year is unique in that it shows different ethnic groups in America celebrating Chinese New Year. The little boy who is the main character is half Chinese and half Korean. The book also mentions a little boy who is French and German who celebrates the holiday with Thai food to go and a little girl who is Hopi and Mexican who calls the New Year her favorite holiday because she likes getting red envelopes from her neighbor from Singapore. With vibrant colors, the boy explains with a bit of wit and humor and spunk their traditions around the New Year including washing his hair and "drying it extra dry." A cute book for the younger set - maybe 4-7 year olds - and particularly good for pointing out that lots of different people enjoy recognizing Chinese New Year with their own little traditions.
